We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.Our company in Schachen employs a diverse group of highly skilled scientists, engineers, technicians, and process specialists from more than 15 nations and provides an important contribution to our company’s endeavor to bring new innovative medicines to patients as fast as possible, while applying highest quality standards to all activities.The Automation Engineer (m/f/d) will provide dedicated automation support, implementation of process control and troubleshooting in compliance with cGMPs for various manufacturing systems within our labs and biotechnology facility and actively contribute to continuous improvement projects for the development and clinical manufacturing of biologics as part of the Process Automation team in the Enabling Technology and Engineering Department.The Shopfloor Process Automation team will provide a strategic link between our early and late-stage pipeline and will be responsible to develop and maintain ‘Line of Sight’. The Automation Engineer (m/f/d) under the supervision and guidance of the Sr. Automation Engineer or Automation Lead, will support the DeltaV DCS and the integration and maintenance of various equipment on the Shop Floor Network.Bring energy, knowledge, innovation to carry out the following:Provide key automation support for various manufacturing systems such as DCS, MES, PLC, SCADA, and OEM systemsSupport and/or Direct Continuous Improvement projects with automation review of equipment specifications, P&IDs, and System Life Cycle documentationResponsible for troubleshooting equipment/automation issues to improve manufacturing performance (e.g. yield improvements, etc.), changes to support new products, and maintaining the automation systems in compliance with cGMPResponsible for integration of new equipment to the DCS System and the Shop Floor NetworkPerform automation change controls with guidance from Sr. Automation Engineer or Automation Lead to ensure that changes are raised and closed on time following the required quality standardsSupporting the qualification of new systems. Write, review, and/or execute test documentsEffectively collaborates with cross functional peersWorking with external companies, organizing spare parts and service visitsParticipate and actively support Digital Transformation initiatives involving system integrations, data connectivity, validation methods and value-based optimization of manufacturing via process control systemLimited off shift work may be required to meet project, operations, and qualification needsWhat skills you will need:In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:Bachelor’s degree in Automation or Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience of at least 3 years of experience in automation controlsAt least 1 year of experience in PLC/SCADA control systems with proven ability to program/troubleshoot PLC applications and make code modificationsGood understanding of electrical drawings and basic electrical wiring skillsEffective oral / written communication skills in English (C1) and German (B2)Experience with development and implementation of industrial controls such as DCS (Delta V), SCADA (Wonderware, iFix), PLC applications (Siemens, Allen Bradley)I/O Networking experience (i.e. Ethernet/IP, OPC, Profinet, and Modbus protocols) is advantageousBasic Networking experienceCommissioning and qualification, test protocol development and executionOur Manufacturing & Supply Division is dedicated to being the most trusted supplier of biopharmaceuticals worldwide.
